Colorado Boat Center Offers Boating Classes

In boating, as in any activity, a little practice goes a long way. Boaters will get a chance to practice their boating skills in May when Colorado Boat Center hosts classes on boating skills.

The classes – “Women Making Waves” and “Men in the Know” – will be split by gender, to allow for a relaxed, non-intimidating learning experience for everyone.

Recognizing that many women have a strong interest in learning about powerboating, Colorado Boat Center began offering its first women-only class in 2004. In the class, boating educators and women boaters share their knowledge and boating experiences, and the class allows those who have little or no opportunity to operate a boat on their own to learn basic skills.

After Colorado Boat Center began offering the “Women Making Waves” class, many men expressed an interest in attending a similar class where men could brush up on their boating skills. So they created the “Men in the Know” class.

This year’s classes will be held at Boyd Lake State Park on Wednesday, May 17. Sessions run four hours. The cost of the classes are $25 for people who have purchased a boat from Colorado Boat Center, with two attendees getting admission for free. Admission is $50 for those who have not purchased a boat from Colorado Boat Center.
