Colorado Boat Center will be showing some of our most popular models at the 2020 Denver Boat Show, scheduled for January 17-19 at the Colorado Convention Center.

Boat shows like the one in Denver are great for showcasing all the different types, models and sizes of boats for potential buyers. In addition, there are aisles of booths for companies that sell boating accessories: everything from electronic gadgets to fuel additives to dock lines. And there are usually boating demonstrations, seminars, games and activities for all ages. Plus some good food and drink.

So boat shows are chock full of things to do and see for boaters, up to and including searching for that lost shaker of salt (gratuitous Jimmy Buffett reference!).

But if you’ve never been to one, it might be helpful to explain what you should or shouldn’t expect.

First, it’s always good to have a plan. If you’re in the buying market for a new boat, it helps to determine what kind of boat, what features you want, and what your price range is. If you’re looking to buy a pontoon boat, for instance, you don’t want to get sidetracked by looking at a lot of sleek racing boats.

Like most boat shows, the Denver show will publish a floorplan showing which manufacturers will occupy which area on the floor of the show. Circle or check off the ones you’d like to visit. (You can still wander among the others, mouth agape in wonder, later on!)  And even if you’re not actively looking to buy, it’s always fun to see what’s new and trending in boats these days.

Those of us who sell boats will be ready to get the year off with a bang, and, working with our manufacturers, we’ll have some of the best deals of the year on offer at the boat show. Buyers usually come out ahead when they shop the boat shows. Look for discounts, packages, accessory add-ons and more.

Take your time.  A big boat show can be loud and confusing at first, and there’s always a lot going on. Stick to your game plan, take a lot of pictures and ask a lot of questions. You don’t have to sign a contract then and there…you can come back the next day or you can arrange an appointment at the local dealership a few days later and take the time to think things over. We at CBC will never pressure buyers to act before they’re ready and have considered all aspects of the purchase decision.

Enjoy yourself!  Boat shows are just gatherings of people like you–people who enjoy the boating lifestyle and want more of it. It’s like a gigantic boat party, without water!

We hope you’ll stop in and say hello to us at the Denver Show (for show details and other information, stop in to our store or visit the show website at www.denverboatshow.com). And if we can help you devise a plan for the show, we’re ready to help!
